Iranian President Hosts Delegation from Kurdistan Region, Reaffirms Commitment to Deeper Bilateral Cooperation
The Iranian President stressed the importance of expanding joint collaboration between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran across various sectors.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday received a high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), affirming Tehran's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional harmony through deeper ties with the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace in Tehran on May 22, brought together Pezeshkian and the visiting KRG delegation led by Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw. The delegation also included Duhok Governor Dr. Ali Tatar, Sulaimani Governor Dr. Haval Abubakr, Halabja Governor Nuxsha Nasih, and senior Iranian provincial leaders including Arash Zare Taniloohani (Governor of Kurdistan), Reza Rahmani (Governor of West Azerbaijan), Manouchehr Habibi (Governor of Kermanshah), and Faramarz Asadi, the Iranian Consul General in Erbil.
Pezeshkian: Kurdistan-Iran Ties Reflect Brotherhood and Shared Regional Stability
President Pezeshkian welcomed the delegation warmly, expressing satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Iranian and Kurdish provinces. He reiterated Tehran’s support for ongoing agreements and emphasized Iran’s desire to advance a vision of brotherhood, coexistence, stability, and peace in the region.
The Iranian President also stressed the importance of expanding joint collaboration between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran across various sectors.
KRG Delegation Conveys Barzani’s Greetings and Commitment to Deepening Ties
On behalf of the Kurdistan Region, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw conveyed greetings and appreciation from Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, acknowledging Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Erbil and reaffirming the KRG’s historic and strategic partnership with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Khoshnaw emphasized that the Kurdistan Region values its multifaceted ties with Tehran and remains committed to mutual cooperation on all levels.
He also praised the ongoing logistical and administrative efforts made by the KRG to facilitate the annual influx of Iranian pilgrims traveling to Iraq’s holy sites—an effort which underscores the depth of cultural and religious ties between the two peoples.
Pezeshkian Sends Regards to Kurdish Leadership
Pezeshkian concluded the two-hour meeting by sending his personal greetings and respects to President Masoud Barzani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and President Nechirvan Barzani.
The visit marks a significant chapter in regional diplomacy, reinforcing the Kurdistan Region’s role as a reliable neighbor and cultural partner in advancing stability and prosperity in the wider Middle East.
