ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Ali Dolamari, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) representative in Paris, has affirmed that the Kurdistan Region should receive its fair share from France’s recently announced $27 billion investment pledge for Iraq.

Speaking to Kurdistan24, Dolamari stated: “France has always reiterated that the Kurdistan Region is an integral part of the Federal Republic of Iraq. Undoubtedly, the Kurdistan Region must be included in any agreements that are made.”

He added that during the Iraq-France investment conference, the Kurdistan Region was formally represented by Dr. Mohammed Shukri, the Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, along with more than 30 companies from the Kurdistan Region.

“The purpose was twofold: to outline the sectors in which the Kurdistan Region requires investment, and to establish connections between Kurdish and French companies. This cooperation should extend beyond the public sector to include private sector partnerships as well,” he noted.

Dolamari emphasized that the Kurdistan Region is particularly interested in attracting French investment in agriculture, housing, tourism, and industry. “France seeks a stronger role in these sectors,” he said.

However, he also pointed to existing obstacles hindering French companies from easily entering the Kurdistan Region.

“Some complications remain between Baghdad and Erbil that affect French firms’ ability to operate freely in the Region. Today's conference also addressed these challenges, especially the lack of adequate insurance frameworks and major banking facilities,” Dolamari explained.
