Kurdistan Launches National Anti-Narcotics Campaign Under PM Barzani’s Supervision
The campaign aims to address the drug epidemic through a multi-pronged strategy: prevention, enforcement, rehabilitation, and community reintegration.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Under the direct supervision of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the Barzani Charity Foundation officially launched a national campaign on Thursday aimed at confronting the escalating threat of narcotic substances across society.
The initiative, unveiled at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday is titled "Together Towards a Strong and Healthy Society", and brings together key ministries and government institutions in a coordinated effort to raise awareness, support rehabilitation, and prevent future spread of drugs in the Kurdistan Region.
Top Officials Join Forces in National Effort
Senior Kurdish government officials, including Minister of Interior Rebar Ahmed, Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed, and Minister of Health Dr. Saman Barzinji, participated in the campaign’s inaugural event. The high-level turnout underscores the political will to treat drug abuse as both a public health crisis and a threat to societal stability.
As part of the campaign, a series of public panels will be held featuring experts and officials who will address the root causes of substance abuse, strategies for prevention, and reintegration of those affected back into society.
