ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok marked a major academic milestone on Sunday with its sixth commencement ceremony, featuring special recognition for the university’s first graduating class from the College of Nursing.

Speaking to Kurdistan24, AUK President Randall Rhodes welcomed attendees and praised the achievements of the graduating students.

"Welcome to the American University of Kurdistan," Rhodes said. "Today, we are celebrating our sixth commencement ceremony. We are honored to welcome His Excellency, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of the American University of Kurdistan."

This year’s ceremony was especially significant as AUK celebrated the graduation of 23 nursing students, the first cohort from the university’s College of Nursing. The graduates are expected to strengthen the region’s healthcare sector.

"Tonight is especially meaningful, as we celebrate the first graduating cohort of our College of Nursing—23 graduates who will soon enter the healthcare profession," Rhodes noted.

He concluded by thanking all supporters of the university and emphasized AUK’s ongoing commitment to excellence in education.

“Thank you for supporting the institution. We look forward to seeing you in the future,” he added.

Founded in 2014, AUK continues to expand its academic programs and deepen its role as a leading institution of higher education in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
