PM Barzani Congratulates Fakhri Karim on Arab Media Award
PM Masrour Barzani congratulated Fakhri Karim on being named “Media Personality of the Year” at the Arab Media Summit, praising his decades-long contributions to journalism, culture, and free expression through his leadership of Iraq’s Al-Mada Foundation.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has extended his congratulations to Fakhri Karim, prominent Iraqi media figure and head of the Al-Mada Foundation, following Karim’s recognition as “Media Personality of the Year” at the Arab Media Summit held in Dubai.
In an official statement issued on Monday, Prime Minister Barzani praised Karim’s longstanding contributions to journalism, intellectual life, and the cultural landscape of Iraq and the broader Arab world.
“On the occasion of your award by the Arab Media Summit in Dubai and your designation as ‘Media Personality of the Year,’ I extend my warmest congratulations and wish you continued success and perseverance,” Barzani wrote.
The Prime Minister also commended Karim’s influential legacy, stating: “Your distinguished role and effective contributions in the fields of media, culture, journalism, support for writers and intellectuals, and the promotion of freedom of thought and responsible expression have been in service of society’s fundamental concerns. I hope you will continue to advance and thrive in good health.”
Fakhri Karim, a veteran journalist and publisher, has been a key figure in shaping Iraq’s independent media sector and fostering public discourse on democratic reform and cultural revival.
