Pushing the Digital Frontier: KRG and U.S. Deepen Tech Cooperation

The KRG and U.S. deepened tech ties during Deputy Consul General Pamela Hack’s visit, focusing on digital transformation, cybersecurity, and innovation. The talks marked a strategic push to advance Kurdistan’s digital future through U.S. collaboration.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — In a significant stride toward regional digital advancement, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) hosted Deputy Consul General of the United States Consulate General in Erbil, Ms. Pamela Hack, for high-level talks on technological cooperation. 

The visit was confirmed by Hiwa Afandi, Deputy Minister and Head of the KRG Department of Information Technology, in an official post on his X account. 

"We had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Pamela Hack, Deputy Consul General of the USCGERBIL and her esteemed colleagues," Afandi stated. "Our discussions focused on advancing the KRG’s digital transformation agenda and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation with the US government and American technology firms in support of Kurdistan and Iraq’s digital future."

The meeting underscored the KRG’s strategic ambition to position the Kurdistan Region as a digitally empowered entity capable of delivering transparent governance, smart public services, and sustainable innovation. 

The discussions also highlighted the mutual interest in fostering institutional capacity, cybersecurity resilience, and technology transfer through deeper collaboration with U.S. institutions.
Ms. Hack's engagement reaffirms continued U.S. support for the Region's modernization efforts and aligns with broader bilateral priorities aimed at economic diversification and digital infrastructure growth across Iraq.

The visit signals a robust step forward in cementing international partnerships that can accelerate the digital transformation process and bring tangible benefits to the citizens of Kurdistan and Iraq alike.
