ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday issued a countrywide security alert urging American citizens currently in Iraq to exercise heightened caution due to a potential increase in threats from foreign terrorist organizations.

While the embassy confirms there is no specific threat at this time, the advisory highlights a general increase in the risk of violence targeting U.S. interests, including businesses and locations frequented by foreigners. American citizens in Iraq are advised to avoid crowded areas and places commonly visited by Westerners.

The U.S. Embassy emphasized its commitment to closely monitoring the security situation and pledged to provide timely updates as necessary. The Department of State continues to enforce a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for Iraq, citing security concerns and the volatile regional environment.

The embassy reiterated that American citizens should avoid travel to Iraq under any circumstances and take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety if already in the country.
