ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has issued a security warning to American citizens in Iraq, citing an increased threat posed by armed groups targeting U.S. nationals, businesses, and interests.

According to the embassy’s statement, there has been a noticeable escalation in threats from militia groups, prompting the diplomatic mission to urge American citizens to avoid all movement and refrain from visiting crowded areas or participating in public gatherings due to potential risks to their safety.

The embassy emphasized that it continues to monitor the situation closely and will disseminate any necessary updates as conditions evolve.

The advisory reiterated the U.S. State Department’s firm recommendation that American citizens avoid all travel to Iraq under any circumstances.
