French President Macron Urges Return to Iran Nuclear Talks
“It is essential to prioritize a return to substantive negotiations with Iran,” he said.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday called for the urgent resumption of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and appealed to Israel to cease its strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure, as tensions between the two regional powers escalate into open warfare.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show, Macron emphasized the need for diplomacy amid the ongoing conflict. “It is essential to prioritize a return to substantive negotiations with Iran,” he said. “These talks must include nuclear issues—specifically the goal of zero uranium enrichment—as well as Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, the limitation of its military capacity, and the cessation of financing for terrorist groups that destabilize the region.”
His comments come as European foreign ministers prepare to meet with Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, in a high-stakes diplomatic push to contain the growing crisis. The meeting is expected to focus on salvaging what remains of the 2015 nuclear deal and preventing further military escalation.
The call for renewed dialogue follows Israel’s large-scale military operation on June 13, during which its air force targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities and ballistic missile factories. The Israeli military claimed the strikes killed several high-ranking Iranian military commanders and atomic scientists involved in Tehran’s nuclear program.
In retaliation, Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles into Tel Aviv and Haifa, destroying residential buildings and key infrastructure. The attacks have left numerous casualties and widespread destruction in Israeli cities, with further exchanges feared in the coming days.
