ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday that it had launched the 20th wave of missile attacks on Israel as part of its ongoing military campaign, Operation True Promise 3. The announcement follows U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear facilities and marks a significant escalation in the regional conflict.
According to the defense division of Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC’s Public Relations Office issued a statement proclaiming the launch of 40 solid- and liquid-fueled missiles during this latest wave of attacks. The operation marks the first use of third-generation Kheibar-Shekan multi-warhead ballistic missiles by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
The IRGC noted that the new generation of missiles featured maneuverable warheads capable of in-flight guidance, designed to increase accuracy, destruction, and effectiveness. Declared targets included Ben Gurion Airport, a biological research center associated with the Israeli government, and alternative military command and control centers.
"Sirens sounded again after the precise strikes, throwing the enemy off balance. We declare that the core capabilities of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this sacred defense have not yet been activated," the statement said.
AFP also confirmed that Iran’s armed forces launched missile strikes on multiple Israeli sites in retaliation for the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The semi-official Fars News Agency described the attacks as utilizing both long-range liquid and solid-fuel missiles armed with "devastating warhead power."
This development comes hours after U.S. B-2 stealth bombers conducted precision airstrikes on Iran’s underground nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the mission in a statement on his Truth Social platform, calling it a "very successful attack" and noting that "a full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow."
"All planes are now outside of Iranian airspace. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors," Trump wrote, before adding, "NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!"
The tit-for-tat military exchanges between Iran, Israel, and the United States have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict. International leaders have called for immediate de-escalation as security conditions across the Middle East continue to deteriorate.
As of this report, no official data has been released regarding casualties or the extent of damage caused by the latest round of missile strikes. Further responses from Israel or the United States remain pending.
