ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The four Iraqi presidencies convened on Sunday to discuss a letter sent by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani concerning the long-standing salary issue facing public employees in the Kurdistan Region, according to Kurdistan24 reporter Shivan Jabari.

The meeting marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to resolve salary delays, which have been a central point of contention between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government in Baghdad.

In a parallel move, KRG Representative to Baghdad Faris Issa formally delivered the letter from Prime Minister Barzani to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, urging immediate action to ensure consistent and fair salary disbursements for public servants in the Region.

Earlier, on June 18, the KRG Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Barzani and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, held a high-level meeting to discuss pressing issues, with public sector salaries topping the agenda. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to securing the rights of public employees and ensuring regular salary payments.

The recent actions signal a unified and proactive push by the KRG leadership to resolve financial challenges in coordination with Baghdad and underscore the importance of institutional dialogue in addressing critical national issues.
