Iran Condemns U.S. and Israeli Strikes at UN, Demands Accountability for ‘Blatant Aggression’
Iran condemns U.S.-Israel strikes as illegal aggression, vows proportional response. Ambassador Iravani accuses West of hypocrisy, demands UN action under Chapter VII. Warns Security Council's inaction would normalize "might makes right" and stain its conscience like Gaza.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In an address during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, condemned the joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, describing them as a flagrant breach of international law and a dangerous assault on Iranian sovereignty.
Speaking “on behalf of a peace-loving nation of nearly 100 million people,” Iravani accused the United States of acting as an aggressor at the behest of what he called “war criminal Netanyahu,” asserting that the latest U.S. strikes were the result of Israel’s failure to halt Iran’s nuclear program on its own.
Iran Warns of Proportional Response
Iravani warned that Iran reserves its full right under international law to respond proportionally to what he called “blatant U.S. aggression and its Israeli proxy,” adding that the nature and timing of any retaliation would be determined by Iran’s armed forces.
“The resilient and united Iranian nation will once again show its dignity, strength, and greatness to the world,” he declared, while condemning what he described as the international community’s failure to act in the face of mounting violations of the UN Charter.
Accusations of Systematic Hypocrisy
In a sweeping indictment of Western powers, Iravani accused the U.S., UK, France, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of enabling aggression through biased conduct and political manipulation of international mechanisms like the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
He described the attack on Iran’s safeguarded nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—as “a clear and flagrant breach” of multiple legal instruments, including the UN Charter, IAEA statute, and Security Council resolutions 487 and 2231.
Call for Action Under Chapter VII
Iravani called on the Security Council to act under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, demanding condemnation of what he termed “heinous crimes” and calling for enforcement measures against both Israel and the United States. He also called for Israel’s undeclared nuclear facilities to be placed under IAEA safeguards.
“The Security Council stands at a crossroads,” Iravani warned. “Failure to act decisively will forever stain its conscience and erode the very foundation of the UN Charter.”
‘Diplomacy Destroyed by Aggression’
The Iranian envoy lamented that his country had been prepared for renewed diplomatic engagement with the U.S. prior to the initial Israeli strike on June 13. He accused Israel of deliberately sabotaging diplomatic channels and the United States of exploiting the NPT as a “political weapon.”
He further criticized the silence of some Western countries, declaring that inaction in the face of unlawful military aggression would normalize a “dangerous precedent where might makes right.”
Urging the international community to uphold the principles of justice and the UN Charter, Iravani closed with a stark warning: “Silence will be complicity in these crimes. If this Council fails to act, the stain of complicity will forever remain on its conscience—as it does with Gaza.”
