ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) — The Israeli military announced on Friday that its air force had carried out a targeted strike on a Hezbollah facility located in the Beaufort mountain range in southern Lebanon. The military described the site as a strategic location used by the group to manage its fire and defense systems.

According to the Israeli army’s official statement, the strike resulted in the complete destruction of the underground infrastructure project operated by Hezbollah. The military claimed that the site had recently been undergoing rehabilitation efforts by the group.

“The site was part of an underground infrastructure project that was completely destroyed,” the army stated.

The Israeli army further emphasized that its forces had been closely monitoring the area and had detected renewed activity, prompting the airstrike.

“We detected attempts by Hezbollah to rehabilitate the site,” the statement said, describing the targeted location as “terrorist infrastructure.”

The army asserted that Hezbollah’s reconstruction efforts constituted a “blatant violation” of long-standing understandings between Israel and Lebanon. It also reaffirmed its commitment to countering what it sees as emerging security threats posed by Hezbollah’s activities near its northern border.

“The reconstruction of the site is a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the Israeli army added, vowing to “continue efforts to eliminate any security threat to Israel.”

The Beaufort mountain range, historically a site of strategic military value, has frequently been at the center of cross-border tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, especially amid heightened hostilities in the region. The latest airstrike signals a continued Israeli policy of preemptively targeting sites it identifies as potential threats.

As of this report, Hezbollah has not issued a public response to the Israeli airstrike. No immediate reports of casualties were released.

The development comes amid broader regional volatility, as hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have escalated in recent weeks, increasing concerns about the possibility of a wider confrontation along the Israeli-Lebanese border.
