Trump: ‘I Saved Khamenei From Death’ — Slams Iran’s Claims of Victory over Israel

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) –United States President Donald J. Trump on Friday launched a sharp rebuke of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accusing him of spreading false claims about a supposed victory in the recent war with Israel and revealing he had personally intervened to stop a massive military strike that could have killed the Iranian leader.
In a lengthy statement posted to his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump wrote, “Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader,’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war-torn country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the war with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie?”
Trump: ‘I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered’
Trump claimed that Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure had been decimated, describing Khamenei’s remarks as dishonest and reckless. “As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie,” Trump wrote. “His country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered.”
According to Trump, both the United States and Israeli armed forces were prepared to eliminate Khamenei during the conflict, but he intervened to prevent what he called “a very ugly and ignominious death.” He continued, “He does not have to say, ‘THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!’”
Trump halted ‘biggest attack of the war’
In the statement, Trump revealed that during the final hours of the war, he ordered Israel to abort a major air raid on Tehran. “I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran, looking for a big day, perhaps the final knockout!” he wrote. The attack, Trump said, would have caused “tremendous damage” and claimed the lives of many Iranians. “It was going to be the biggest attack of the war, by far.”
Sanctions relief abandoned over Khamenei’s rhetoric
Trump stated that in the final days of the war, he had been working on lifting US sanctions to support Iran’s recovery, describing the punitive measures as “BITING.” However, following Khamenei’s post-war remarks, which Trump interpreted as a display of “anger, hatred, and disgust,” he said all efforts to ease sanctions were immediately suspended.
“But no, instead I get hit with a statement of anger… and immediately dropped all work on sanction relief,” Trump wrote. “Iran has to get back into the World Order flow, or things will only get worse for them.”
‘A burned out, blown up country’
In a scathing condemnation of Iran’s post-war condition, Trump described the country as devastated and without prospects. “They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them – A burned out, blown up country, with no future, a decimated military, a horrible economy, and DEATH all around them. They have no hope, and it will only get worse!”
Message to Iran’s leaders: Choose diplomacy
Concluding his message, Trump advised Tehran’s leadership to pursue diplomacy over defiance. “I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR,” he said, ending the statement with a final call for de-escalation: “PEACE!!!”
