ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, arrived in Erbil on Sunday, accompanied by Ziyad al-Janabi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, as part of a visit aimed at addressing ongoing issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.
The high-level delegation was welcomed by Rebar Ahmed, the Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
According to Kurdistan24 sources, the visit is focused on advancing dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil, with a particular emphasis on pending disputes, governance cooperation, and preparations for Iraq's upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for November 2025.
While no public statements were made by the officials upon arrival, the meetings are expected to touch on critical areas of contention, including budget allocations, resource management, and administrative coordination between the two governments.
