KDP Deputy Leader Masrour Barzani Reaffirms Party’s Role as Guardian of Kurdish Rights and Stability in the Region
“The KDP, under the leadership of President Barzani, is the foremost defender of the legitimate rights and aspirations of the people of Kurdistan and the constitutional status of the Region,” Barzani added. “A stronger KDP means a stronger Kurdistan."

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Masrour Barzani, Deputy President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met on Monday with a number of senior party members and organizational cadres in Erbil, addressing key political developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.
Barzani highlighted the latest political changes and challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing that the Region must never be a source of threat or instability to any party. Instead, he stressed, it should always remain a central pillar of peace and stability in the Middle East.
Barzani praised the influential role of President Masoud Barzani in bringing Kurdish factions closer together—particularly in the Kurdish-majority areas of Syria (Kurdistan of Syria)—and in supporting reconciliation efforts in Turkey through the peace process with the Kurdish movement.
Commenting on relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraq's federal government, Barzani stated that the ongoing disputes are political rather than technical. “Unfortunately, the approach in Baghdad toward the Kurdistan Region continues to be unjust, discriminatory, and unconstitutional,” he said.
He reiterated that Iraq is a federal state and that the Kurdistan Region possesses a constitutionally recognized status, which must be respected. “The Region will never relinquish any of its constitutional rights,” he affirmed.
Barzani also noted that a KRG delegation is currently in Baghdad to resolve the salary disputes affecting the people of Kurdistan, expressing hope that the issue will be settled as soon as possible.
“The KDP, under the leadership of President Barzani, is the foremost defender of the legitimate rights and aspirations of the people of Kurdistan and the constitutional status of the Region,” Barzani added. “A stronger KDP means a stronger Kurdistan. Backed by God and the patriotic people of Kurdistan, our party will continue advancing toward greater success.”
