ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A high-level delegation from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday to discuss a potential new phase in Turkey's peace process, according to a statement released by the party.

The meeting, which included senior DEM Party figures Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, focused on the party’s proposals and expectations for restarting the process aimed at resolving long-standing Kurdish issues through dialogue and democratic means.

The DEM Party delegation emphasized the shared commitment to advancing the peace process and stressed the need for concrete steps to ensure its continuity and success.

Also, in attendance were İbrahim Kalın, Director of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), and Efkan Ala, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), underscoring the seriousness of the discussions.

The meeting marked a notable development amid renewed calls from political and civil society groups to return to dialogue as a path toward long-term stability and reconciliation.

On Sunday, the DEM Party released a statement detailing a "very efficient" two-and-a-half-hour meeting held with imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan at İmrali Island Prison.
