ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Iraqi Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved the formation of a high-level committee tasked with addressing two critical issues concerning the Kurdistan Region: the salaries of public employees and oil exports.

According to Kurdistan24 correspondent Shivan Jabari in Baghdad, the committee will include representatives from five federal ministries, with a focus on resolving long-standing disputes over salary disbursement and the region’s oil-related matters.

Although the official meeting agenda reportedly did not mention either topic, Kurdish ministers attending the session pushed for their inclusion. They unanimously urged the federal government to find an immediate and lasting solution to the salary delays that continue to affect public servants in the Kurdistan Region.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has been holding talks in Baghdad for the past two days. Their discussions with the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office have centered on the halted oil exports and the non-payment of public sector wages.
