PM Barzani, Iraqi National Security Advisor Discuss Strengthening Security Cooperation

The two officials reviewed the latest security developments in Iraq and emphasized the need to enhance coordination between the KRG and the federal government to safeguard national stability and peace.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji on Wednesday to discuss the country’s overall security situation and the importance of closer cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The two officials reviewed the latest security developments in Iraq and emphasized the need to enhance coordination between the KRG and the federal government to safeguard national stability and peace.

Both sides underscored the necessity of resolving outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad in accordance with the Iraqi constitution. They also stressed the importance of protecting the Region’s constitutional rights and securing its financial entitlements.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and partnership between Erbil and Baghdad amidst regional and domestic challenges.
