KRG’s MyAccount Initiative Empowers Public Employees Through Modern Banking Services
Announced on Feb. 28, 2023, the MyAccount initiative provides a secure and efficient way for government employees to receive their salaries through the banking system.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Under the leadership of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has taken a major step toward financial modernization with the launch of the MyAccount initiative—a transformative project designed to enhance financial inclusion and improve salary payment mechanisms for public employees.
Announced on Feb. 28, 2023, the MyAccount initiative provides a secure and efficient way for government employees to receive their salaries through the banking system. This shift marks a significant move away from cash-based transactions, signaling the Region’s push toward a more digital, transparent, and inclusive economy.
The core goals of the initiative include:
- Reducing reliance on cash transactions and enhancing security.
- Promoting the digital development of the banking sector.
- Ensuring public employees have access to key banking services such as loans, savings, and electronic payments.
- Improving financial literacy across the population.
By linking public salaries to personal bank accounts, the MyAccount initiative not only increases individual financial freedom but also lays the groundwork for broader economic growth and digital transformation in the Kurdistan Region.
This initiative is part of the KRG’s broader efforts to build a stronger, more resilient economy and provide a brighter financial future for all citizens.
