Kurdistan Region Braces for Scorching Weekend as Temperatures Surge

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology in the Kurdistan Region announced on Saturday that temperatures are expected to rise across the Region, warning of intense heat over the weekend with clear skies and sporadic cloud cover.

According to the weather bulletin, the forecast indicates hot and sunny conditions, accompanied by some scattered clouds, as temperatures increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius compared to Friday.

Sunday Forecast: Cloudier Skies, Slight Relief at Night

Looking ahead to Sunday, the meteorological authority projects a continuation of hot and sunny weather during daylight hours, followed by a shift to cloudy and partially cloudy skies by nightfall. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly, nearing Saturday’s levels by the evening.

The forecast for the next 24 hours includes the following maximum temperatures:

Erbil: 47°C
Sulaimani: 45°C
Duhok: 46°C
Kirkuk: 48°C
Zakho: 46°C
Halabja: 46°C
Soran: 45°C
Haji Omaran: 33°C
Garmiyan: 49°C

With Garmiyan reaching the highest expected temperature at 49°C, local authorities may advise residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. The public is urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and monitor updates from the Kurdistan Region's weather bureau.
