Iraqi Parliament to Discuss Drone Strikes on Kurdistan Region’s Oil Infrastructure on Monday
“We insisted on prioritizing this matter, and the parliament presidency agreed. One of the two discussion topics for Monday’s session will be the drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region’s energy infrastructure,” she said.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) parliamentary bloc in Iraq has formally requested that the Iraqi Parliament include the issue of recent drone strikes on the Kurdistan Region’s oil installations in its upcoming session, the bloc's head told Kurdistan24.
Vian Sabri, head of the KDP parliamentary bloc in Baghdad, told Kurdistan24 that the bloc has urged the Iraqi Parliament's presidency to put the drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region’s oil sites on the agenda of its Monday session. “We insisted on prioritizing this matter, and the parliament presidency agreed. One of the two discussion topics for Monday’s session will be the drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region’s energy infrastructure,” she said.
On Thursday, the KDP bloc issued a formal statement condemning what it described as terrorist drone attacks on critical economic and energy infrastructure across the Kurdistan Region. The statement noted, “As part of an unjust economic pressure campaign on the Kurdistan Region, a number of terrorist drone attacks have recently targeted key economic installations, including oil facilities and energy sources.”
The KDP bloc called for an emergency parliamentary session to address what it termed a "dangerous escalation" and to examine the federal government’s response to the attacks. The aim, the bloc emphasized, is to "strengthen the legislative authority’s role in protecting the nation and its citizens."
The Iraqi Parliament is now set to convene on Monday to discuss two key issues: the drone strikes on the Kurdistan Region’s energy infrastructure and the recent developments in Kut.
