Araqchi Urges Global Condemnation of 'Unlawful' U.S.-Israeli Strikes, Accountability for Aggressors

Araqchi criticized several European countries for taking what he called a “biased stance” by justifying the actions of the United States and Israel. He warned that such positions risk normalizing violations of international norms and fueling greater insecurity both regionally and globally.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has condemned what he described as U.S.-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic, labeling it a flagrant breach of the UN Charter and international human rights, according to Iran’s official news agency IRNA.

In a phone call on Saturday with Ignazio Cassis, the Swiss Federal Councilor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Araqchi emphasized the need for the international community to strongly denounce what he termed “a clear violation of international law” and to hold those responsible accountable.

The Iranian diplomat criticized several European countries for taking what he called a “biased stance” by justifying the actions of the United States and Israel. He warned that such positions risk normalizing violations of international norms and fueling greater insecurity both regionally and globally.

Araqchi’s remarks come in the aftermath of a major Israeli military operation against Iran on June 13, which targeted senior military commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes in response, leading to a ceasefire agreement on June 24 following a request from Israel, according to IRNA.

According to IRNA, the Swiss Foreign Minister Cassis, during the conversation, reiterated his country's support for diplomatic efforts, expressed readiness to assist in resolving tensions, acknowledged that military strikes on nuclear facilities are contrary to international regulations, and stressed the importance of preventing further escalation.
