ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Tuesday, 43 Iraqi citizens were deported from Germany on a charter flight to Baghdad.

The Ministry of Justice in the eastern state of Thuringia stated that all those deported were single men who were required to leave the country, noting that some had previous criminal convictions.

According to the German Interior Ministry, more than 800 Iraqi refugees were deported in 2024. This deportation campaign is the result of an agreement between the Iraqi and German governments, in which Baghdad committed to deporting Iraqis by mid-2023. Since then, 50 to 100 individuals have been deported each month.

On Friday, 81 Afghan refugees with criminal records were deported to Kabul. Additionally, the German government aims to reach an agreement with the new Syrian government to facilitate the deportation of Syrian refugees.
