'It Ain't Gonna Happen': Israel Blasts 'Distorted' International Pressure

Israel’s FM Sa'ar blasts a “distorted campaign” of international pressure, vowing “it ain’t gonna happen” to a Palestinian “terror state.” He said the pressure fuels antisemitism, hardens Hamas’s stance, and sabotages hostage deals, urging pressure be put on Hamas instead.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar in a press conference on Tuesday fiercely rejected what he described as a “distorted campaign of international pressure” designed to force an end to the war with Hamas and impose a Palestinian state, declaring that Israel would not “commit suicide” to appease other nations and vowing repeatedly, “it ain’t gonna happen.”

In a detailed statement, Sa'ar argued that this international campaign, which he said “fuels the anti-Semitism wave we are witnessing,” is actively sabotaging negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release by encouraging Hamas to harden its position. He asserted that any pressure should be directed solely at Hamas, whom he held entirely responsible for starting and continuing the war.

“When they demand ‘end this war’, what does it really mean? Ending the war while Hamas remains in power in Gaza? That will be a tragedy for both Israelis and Palestinians,” Sa'ar stated. He argued this was Hamas’s strategic goal from the outset, adding, “This is why they took the hostages in the first place, to try to impose their will on Israel. It ain't gonna happen, no matter how much pressure is put on Israel.”

The Foreign Minister’s comments come as Israel’s primary ally, the United States, harshly criticized a planned United Nations conference in New York focused on the two-state solution. In a statement on Monday, the U.S. State Department called the conference an “unproductive and ill-timed” publicity stunt that would “prolong the war, embolden Hamas, and reward its obstruction.” The U.S. confirmed it will not participate in the event.

Sa'ar directly addressed the push for Palestinian statehood, framing it as an existential threat. “The second aim of this distorted campaign is an attempt to force upon Israel a Palestinian terror state,” he said, referencing a comment by the French Foreign Minister in New York. “Establishing a Palestinian state today is establishing a Hamas state, a Jihadist state. It ain't gonna happen.”

The U.S. State Department has also singled out France, noting that President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement about recognizing a Palestinian state “was welcomed by Hamas” and represented a “pattern of counterproductive gestures.”

Sa'ar offered a blunt assessment of the motivations behind European pressure. “We are aware of the fact that there are countries in Europe today with a huge Muslim population. Sometimes it affects the policies of their governments,” he said. “But this cannot and will not lead Israel to commit suicide. We won't allow a Jihadist terror state in the heart of our ancient homeland.”

Invoking a historical parallel, Sa'ar declared, “Israel will not be the Czechoslovakia of the 21st century. We won't sacrifice our own existence for the sake of the appeasement countries.” He added pointedly, “We won't give up our basic interests for the sake of internal politics in certain countries that lost control over their own streets. But still, they are arrogantly presumed to decide for what's good for our security.”

Sa'ar argued that the international pressure has had a direct and negative impact on diplomatic efforts to free the 50 remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza. “It must be clear, the international pressure on Israel during critical days in the negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage deal has already caused Hamas to harden its position,” he asserted. “This pressure is directly sabotaging the chances for a ceasefire and hostage deal. It is only pushing towards military escalation by hardening Hamas's stance.”

He firmly placed all responsibility for the conflict and the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza on the militant group. “Everyone who is worried about the humanitarian situation must ask himself, who is responsible for the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza?” he asked. “There's only one clear answer. Hamas. Hamas initiated the war with its October 7 massacre. Hamas is responsible for the war's continuation by refusing to release our hostages... and by refusing to lay down its arms. The international pressure, therefore, must not be on Israel. It must be on Hamas.”

Sa'ar concluded by expressing gratitude for American support, stating, “We thank our great ally, the United States, President Trump and his administration for the unwavering support for Israel's war against Hamas and terror.” He affirmed Israel’s policy would not be changed by external forces. “We are always open to constructive dialogue, but pressure on us will not work.”
