ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Raid Fahmi, Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party, told Kurdistan24 on Tuesday that drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region threaten Iraqi sovereignty and that the perpetrators must be identified.

He stated that the Iraqi government needs to disclose the identities of those responsible for the drone attacks. However, based on current observations, revealing these identities appears to be politically motivated; the commander-in-chief of the armed forces must have full authority over these groups.

“There are several armed groups that operate outside the control of the Iraqi government, and at times they pursue the agenda of parties based outside Iraq. This situation not only affects the Kurdistan Region but also impacts the Iraqi government and raises questions about Iraq's position,” Fahmi explained.

The Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party further emphasized that if these groups remain uncontrolled, Iraq will face significant international and political risks, as drone attacks represent a threat to the entire country. Consequently, these attacks are likely to become an international concern rather than merely a domestic issue.

“These groups do not want the Kurdistan Region to maintain a strong international standing, which is why they are being targeted. If the Iraqi government is hesitant to reveal the identities of the perpetrators, then Iraq will confront an uncertain future,” he warned.
