Iraqi Deputy Speaker Warns of Armed Groups and Drone Attacks on Kurdistan Region
"These attacks resulted in the suspension of production in several oil fields and directly impacted the economic and humanitarian situation in the region,” Abdullah added.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Parliament Deputy Speaker Shakhawan Abdullah addressed the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva on Thursday, stating: "Despite the Iraqi government's efforts to establish stability, illegal weapons and armed groups continue to threaten internal security and social harmony.”
“Recently, we witnessed dozens of drones conducting dangerous terrorist attacks on oil infrastructure and facilities in the Kurdistan Region. These attacks resulted in the suspension of production in several oil fields and directly impacted the economic and humanitarian situation in the region,” Abdullah added.
Raid Fahmi, Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party, told Kurdistan24 on Tuesday that the Iraqi government needs to disclose the identities of those responsible for the drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
“There are several armed groups that operate outside the control of the Iraqi government, and at times they pursue the agenda of parties based outside Iraq. This situation not only affects the Kurdistan Region but also impacts the Iraqi government and raises questions about Iraq's position,” Fahmi added.
