Exceptional Sumac Harvest Begins in Akre, Driving High Demand and Prices

On Friday, the Agriculture Directorate of Akre reported that the district has three million sumac trees planted across 8,500 acres, with most of the trees located in Dinarta village.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The harvest of sumac has begun in Duhok’s Akre district, and this year's crop is exceptional, leading to high demand.

On Friday, the Agriculture Directorate of Akre reported that the district has three million sumac trees planted across 8,500 acres, with most of the trees located in Dinarta village.

Nafir Baqi, a local farmer, told Kurdistan24, “This year's crop is very good, and there is significant demand among citizens. We expect this year to be better than previous years.”

He noted that the price of white sumac is 6,000 dinars per kilogram, while red sumac ranges from 3,000 to 4,000 dinars per kilogram.
