SDF, US Forces Hold Live-Fire Drills in Syria
US-led Coalition and SDF forces conducted joint military drills in Al-Hasakah, Syria, including live-fire and anti-drone exercises to boost combat readiness and coordination, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The US-led International Coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have conducted a new round of joint military drills involving live-fire exercises in northern Al-Hasakah province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Wednesday. The maneuvers are part of a consistent effort to enhance combat readiness and strengthen on-the-ground coordination between the two strategic partners in the region.
According to the UK-based human rights monitor, the latest drills took place on Tuesday at the Qasrak base. The SOHR report stated that the exercises concentrated on tactical operations, specifically attacking fake targets with heavy weapons. The stated purpose of these activities, the Observatory noted, is part of ongoing efforts "to raise combat readiness and enhance coordination on the ground between the two sides."
This most recent military activity follows similar joint exercises conducted just days prior. On August 2, SOHR activists monitored joint military training inside the Kharab Al-Jeir base in the Ramilan countryside, which is also located in northern Al-Hasakah.
Citing its sources, the Observatory detailed that the drills at Kharab Al-Jeir included simulations specifically designed to counter aerial attacks by drones, utilizing advanced anti-drone systems located at the base. The exercises also featured the use of modern heavy weaponry. The firing of flare grenades over the base was also part of the maneuvers, which SOHR described as being for the purpose of military readiness and strengthening coordination between the two forces.
