ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday identified Vice President JD Vance as the probable favorite to secure the 2028 Republican presidential nomination and suggested a potential future ticket could team him up with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to a report from Fox News. The president's comments offered an exceptionally early look at the potential future of the Make America Great Again movement.

The remarks were made at the South Court Auditorium, where President Trump was signing an executive order to create a task force for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

According to the Fox News report, senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked the president if Vance was likely to become the new face of the MAGA movement, noting that Trump had previously stated he would not run for a constitutionally prohibited third term. "Do you agree that the heir-apparent to MAGA is JD Vance?" Doocy asked.

In his response, President Trump not only endorsed Vance's position but also floated the idea of a political alliance with Rubio. "Well, I think most likely. In all fairness, he's the vice president, and I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form," Trump replied, as reported by Fox News.

While calling it "too early, obviously, to talk about it," the president praised his deputy's performance. "Certainly he's doing a great job," he added. "And he would be probably favored at this point."

According to Fox News, the president also noted that other individuals in his Cabinet could possibly lead the MAGA movement in the future. This discussion comes after Trump and some of his allies have previously floated the idea of him running for a third term, a move that is constitutionally prohibited.

Secretary of State Rubio, who ran against Trump in the 2016 Republican primary but has since become a key ally, has recently dismissed speculation about his own presidential ambitions for 2028. In an interview last month with Lara Trump that aired on the Fox News Channel, Rubio threw his support behind the vice president.

"I think JD Vance would be a great nominee if he decides he wants to do that," Rubio said. During the segment on "My View with Lara Trump," he also commended Vance's performance as vice president and made it clear that he is satisfied with his current role in the Trump Cabinet.
