KRG to Resume Over 200 Long-Stalled Infrastructure Projects Across Kurdistan Region
“At least 206 projects, which have been suspended for more than a decade, will now be reactivated following a recent decision by the Council of Ministers,” Jaff said at a press conference.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Luqman Jaff, a member of the executive board of the Sulaimani branch of the Kurdistan Contractors Union, announced on Thursday that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers has decided to resume work on hundreds of infrastructure projects that have been stalled for years.
“At least 206 projects, which have been suspended for more than a decade, will now be reactivated following a recent decision by the Council of Ministers,” Jaff said at a press conference.
He stressed the importance of allocating adequate funding to ensure the completion of these projects, which span a wide range of sectors, including roads, schools, hospitals, and other public services.
“These projects cover the entire Kurdistan Region,” he explained. “Previously, their funding depended on revenues from petrodollars. Now, financing will come from the development budgets of relevant ministries and provincial administrations.”
Many of these projects have been on hold since the onset of the financial crisis over a decade ago. The KRG's latest move is expected to inject new momentum into the region’s stalled development efforts.
