ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iran's Foreign Ministry has issued a forceful condemnation of what it termed the "Zionist regime's plan for the complete military occupation of Gaza," asserting that the proposal represents a clear and specific intention to commit genocide and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, according to a report from the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

In a detailed statement reported by IRNA, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei described the alleged plan to militarily occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace its residents as a "plot to complete the genocide of the Palestinian nation" and strongly condemned it. Tehran’s official position frames the potential military action as the culmination of a deliberate policy.

According to the report, Baqaei emphasized the legal gravity of the situation, directly addressing international judicial bodies. "The threat of a full occupation of Gaza by the criminals ruling the historic land of Palestine—who are being pursued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and whose actions are under investigation by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as genocide—is another clear sign of the Zionist regime's specific intent for ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the genocide of Palestinians," he stated, as cited by IRNA.

He further stressed that this alleged intent "must be taken into consideration by the ICC and the ICJ."

The spokesperson also articulated what he described as the "legal and moral responsibility" of the international community to intervene. Baqaei called on every government and the United Nations to act decisively to "stop the genocide and heinous crimes being committed in occupied Palestine."

The statement specifically criticized the role of Western nations, with Baqaei labeling the "continued complicity of the United States and some other Western countries" with the actions of the "Zionist regime" as "shameful."

Iran’s Foreign Ministry outlined a two-pronged immediate solution to the crisis. "Forcing the Israeli regime to stop the genocide and immediately sending humanitarian aid to the hungry and thirsty people of Gaza is a necessary step to end a catastrophe that has shaken the legal, normative, and moral foundations of human civilization," Baqaei stated, according to the IRNA dispatch.

Beyond condemnation, the spokesperson revealed a diplomatic initiative undertaken by Tehran.

He reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran has submitted an official request for an "immediate emergency meeting" of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The request was formally sent to the OIC's Secretariat, as well as to Saudi Arabia, in its capacity as the host country, and to Turkey, as the current Chair of the OIC Council of Ministers. The purpose of the proposed meeting, Baqaei concluded, is to foster "collective action by Islamic countries to help the oppressed people of Palestine."
