Afrin Students Achieve Top National Rankings in Syria’s Grade 9 Exams

Four students from Western Kurdistan's Afrin region achieved perfect/near-perfect scores in national exams, ranking among Syria's top performers despite challenging conditions. Their success highlights remarkable academic resilience.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Four students from Afrin, in Northern Syria (western Kurdistan), have secured top positions across Syria in the official Grade 9 examination results announced by the Syrian Ministry of Education, marking an exceptional academic achievement under challenging circumstances.

The results, officially released on Friday, revealed that these students attained perfect or near-perfect scores, placing them among the highest-ranking students nationwide. Their success has been hailed as a source of pride and hope for the community, especially given the difficult conditions under which they studied.

According to the official announcement, the four leading students from Afrin are:

Shirav Tobal – 310 out of 310 points
Perwin Hiso – 310 out of 310 points
Roni Abdulmajid – 309.5 points
Shergo Hido – 309.5 points

Syrian Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed Terko stated that a total of 356,193 students participated in this year’s exams, with a national pass rate of 49%. Out of all participants, 121 students achieved first-place rankings at the national level.

The outstanding performance of Afrin’s students stands as a testament to their resilience, determination, and dedication to education despite the region’s enduring hardships.
