SDF Accuses Damascus of Ceasefire Violations in Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo
The SDF reported pro-government forces launched 22 attacks in Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo, injuring 11 civilians. The Kurdish-led force warned these breaches threaten the March 2025 ceasefire agreement with Damascus.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Saturday accused the Damascus government and its allied armed groups of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire in Deir ez-Zor, Tal Tamr, and areas around Aleppo. The SDF warned that such actions threaten the agreement signed between its General Commander, Mazloum Abdi, and Ahmed al-Sharaa.
In a statement issued by the SDF related Media, the force noted that, at a time when the Syrian people are seeking stability, those armed groups that operate under the Damascus government’s umbrella have continued their violations against the ceasefire.
According to the statement, these groups have launched attacks in areas such as Deir ez-Zor, Deir Hafir, the Tishrin Dam, and Tal Tamr. The SDF also pointed to “suspicious movements” around the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods in Aleppo, describing them as a clear violation of the agreement signed on Apr. 1, 2025, between the leadership of both districts and the Damascus authorities.
The SDF stated that these pro-government armed groups have carried out more than 22 attacks, deploying heavy weapons. The assaults also included deliberate bombardments and attempts to cross the Euphrates River to strike SDF positions in Deir ez-Zor.
As a result of these operations, the statement reported that more than 11 civilians have been injured, with significant damage inflicted on civilian areas.
The SDF stressed that these attacks “contradict the essence of the agreement between al-Sharaa and Abdi,” which was built on a commitment to maintain a complete ceasefire and protect civilians.
Call for Compliance and International Oversight
“We have consistently exercised restraint and worked to preserve calm despite the attacks,” the statement said, adding that the continuation of such hostilities undermines mutual trust and tests ongoing understandings. The SDF declared that the Damascus government bears full responsibility for the violations.
In its concluding appeal, the SDF:
Urged the Damascus government, its ‘’allied armed groups, and Türkiye-backed factions” to immediately cease all violations and adhere to the ceasefire terms.
Called on the international community and human rights organizations to monitor these violations and work to ensure respect for the agreements.
Reaffirmed its readiness to engage in dialogue and cooperation for a stable and secure Syria, while underscoring its determination to take all necessary measures to defend the rights and safety of its people.
