KDP, PUK Agree to Intensify Efforts for Kurdistan Region Parliament’s Sixth Session in September

The two delegations met in Erbil on Thursday, after which they issued a joint statement announcing “significant progress” based on the principles of their shared political vision.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Negotiating delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have agreed to step up efforts to convene the sixth session of the Kurdistan Region Parliament in September.

The two delegations met in Erbil on Thursday, after which they issued a joint statement announcing “significant progress” based on the principles of their shared political vision. They also outlined steps to coordinate joint work for the next stage of governance in the Kurdistan Region.

Citing the current regional context and the will of the Kurdish people, both parties affirmed the need for “intensive efforts” to launch the new parliamentary session as scheduled.

The statement further stressed the importance of continuing preparations for the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s tenth cabinet.
