ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On the 79th anniversary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) founding, KDP Vice President Nechirvan Barzani declared that the "greatest responsibility" for guiding the people of Kurdistan to a "safe shore" now rests on the shoulders of the party, calling for proactive leadership in unifying political forces and continuously renewing the party's vision to meet modern challenges.

In a message published on Saturday, Nechirvan Barzani commemorated the occasion with a tribute to the party's legacy and its martyrs.

He stated that on this anniversary, "we gloriously remember the immortal Barzani, the founder of the Party and the spiritual leader of the people of Kurdistan, and all those heroes, revolutionaries, and brave Peshmerga who loyally sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Kurdistan."

Looking to the future, he reiterated a firm commitment, stating, "with hope and faith, we pledge the continuation of work and effort for the high goals of the Party and the realization of the rights of the people of Kurdistan."

The Vice President pointed to the historical context of the party’s formation, describing its establishment 79 years ago as a "vital and foremost necessity" that arose from a "complicated and difficult situation of that era."

This foundational purpose, he argued, was to "proudly guide and lead the people of Kurdistan towards freedom."

He directly connected this historical mandate to the KDP's contemporary role, asserting that "now, according to its history, presence, role, and position on the Kurdistan stage, the greatest responsibility for bringing the people of Kurdistan to a safe shore falls on the shoulders of the Party."

Nechirvan Barzani further elaborated on what this responsibility entails, indicating that the party's historical and national duty requires it to be at the forefront of strengthening unity, harmony, and coexistence.

He emphasized the KDP's role in gathering the political parties and components of Kurdistan and taking the initiative to overcome problems and disagreements. This leadership is essential, he noted, in order to guide Kurdistan in confronting dangers and challenges and turning them into opportunities for service and progress for the nation's present and future.

He affirmed that for this cause, the party, as always, "will make every sacrifice."

Addressing the challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani expressed confidence in the party's resilience. "Just as the Party remained successful and proud through all the problems, complexities, and ups and downs of history, so too will it continue with wisdom and strong will until it achieves the hopes and dreams of the people of Kurdistan," he stated.

To achieve this, he concluded, the party must embrace change and progress. "For this, we must continuously renew ourselves in line with developments, progress, the spirit of the age and its necessities, and the Party, as always, must be the hope, guarantee, spirit, and dynamo of the progress of the people of Kurdistan."
