Iraq and 30 Other States Condemn Netanyahu’s Statements on ‘Greater Israel’
Iraq and 30 Arab/Islamic states denounced Netanyahu's expansionist vision as a violation of international law, warning it threatens regional sovereignty. The joint declaration also rejected new West Bank settlements and affirmed Palestinian land rights.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraq, together with 30 Arab and Islamic countries, has issued a joint declaration strongly denouncing recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding his vision of establishing a “Greater Israel.” The statement described his comments as a direct threat to international law and the security and sovereignty of Arab states across the region.
According to the declaration, Netanyahu’s statements represent not only a provocation but also an overt violation of the principles of international law, constituting a challenge to the stability and independence of Arab and Islamic countries.
The 31 nations affirmed that they would confront such attempts by all possible means within the framework of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The joint communiqué also condemned the endorsement of Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for the controversial E1 settlement project, which would further obstruct the establishment of a Palestinian state. The signatories stressed that such measures amount to an assault on the Palestinian people’s right to statehood, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over Palestinian land and warned against Tel Aviv’s persistent efforts to expand its authority into the occupied West Bank. The declaration reiterated that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory and must remain under Palestinian control.
The Arab and Islamic nations called on the international community—particularly permanent members of the UN Security Council—to uphold their legal and moral responsibilities by demanding Israel immediately cease all violations of Palestinian sovereignty.
The declaration was endorsed by organizations such as the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. It followed Netanyahu’s recent comments in which he openly declared that his “political and spiritual mission” was the construction of a Greater Israel.
Observers noted that Netanyahu’s remarks mirror earlier statements made by Finance Minister Smotrich, who had previously advocated that parts of Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq should ultimately fall under Israeli control.
The joint condemnation underlined that such expansionist rhetoric represents not only a threat to Palestinians but to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the entire region.
