Iraqi PM Praises KDP's Historic Role in Combating Dictatorship

Iraqi PM al-Sudani congratulated the KDP on its 79th anniversary, praising its fundamental role alongside other national forces in combating dictatorship and building a democratic Iraq, and called for preserving the nation's gains for all its people.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Saturday acknowledged the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) "fundamental role" in combating dictatorship and building a new, democratic Iraq, in a formal message of congratulations marking the party's 79th founding anniversary.

Iraq's Prime Minister's message emphasized a shared history of struggle and the importance of preserving national gains.

According to a statement released by the Media Office of the Prime Minister on Saturday, the Prime Minister sent a congratulatory message to the President Masoud Barzani, to formally commemorate the occasion. 

In the message, the Iraqi Prime Minister recalled the long struggle of the Democratic Party and its significant contributions to the modern Iraqi state.

The statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office detailed that PM al-Sudani highlighted the KDP's fundamental role, which was carried out alongside other national forces and parties from various currents and trends, in the collective effort to combat the former dictatorship.

The Premier's message positioned the KDP as an essential partner in the historical opposition movement that ultimately contributed to the building of the new, democratic Iraq that emerged after the fall of the previous regime.

Looking toward the future, the communication from the Iraqi Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of continuing collaborative efforts to safeguard the progress that has been achieved for all of Iraq's diverse population.

The Media Office of the Prime Minister relayed that the Iraqi PM stressed the necessity of preserving the gains that have been realized for "all our noble people," a sentiment that reinforces a message of national unity and shared achievements.
