Iraqi Parliament Deputy Speaker: No Obstacles to Kurdistan Region Oil Exports
He revealed that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government have reached an agreement on non-oil revenues over the past two days, paving the way for progress on public employee salaries in the Kurdistan Region next week.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, announced on Sunday that there are no obstacles regarding oil exports from the Kurdistan Region and that other outstanding concerns have been resolved.
He revealed that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government have reached an agreement on non-oil revenues over the past two days, paving the way for progress on public employee salaries in the Kurdistan Region next week. He expressed hope that the remaining issues would be resolved in the coming days.
According to Abdullah, the KRG’s cooperation on oil exports and non-oil revenues, in line with the Financial Administration Law, has eased pressure on Baghdad and helped address one of Iraq’s most persistent challenges.
“We have a federal system in Iraq, and if you look at the constitution, many articles related to federal revenue collection and redistribution have yet to be legislated by parliament,” he said, stressing that centralist approaches have long hindered agreements.
He added that there is now growing recognition that the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional rights must be respected and its financial entitlements delivered.
Oil exports through the Iraq-Turkey Pipeline have been suspended since March 2023 following a ruling by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) that halted independent Kurdish oil sales.
