Trump Urges Hamas’ Destruction to Secure Hostage Release
“We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed. The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the complete destruction of Hamas, insisting that it is the only path to securing the release of hostages still held in Gaza.
“We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed. The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform.
The president went on to highlight what he described as his record of success in Middle East policy, claiming credit for securing the release of “hundreds of hostages” during his time in office, ending multiple wars, and striking Iran’s nuclear program.
“Remember, I was the one who negotiated and got hundreds of hostages freed and released into Israel (and America!). I was the one who ended six wars, in just six months. I was the one who obliterated Iran’s nuclear facilities. Play to win, or don’t play at all!” Trump posted.
The comments come as Israel’s war with Hamas, sparked by the October 7, 2023, attack that killed around 1,200 people and saw over 240 taken hostage, enters its second year. While Israel has secured the release of some captives through negotiated ceasefires and prisoner exchanges, dozens remain in Gaza, with their fate uncertain amid ongoing military operations.
Israel has faced significant challenges in its efforts to secure the release of all hostages, with ongoing military operations complicating negotiations. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the complexities of the conflict, and the international community continues to push for a peaceful resolution.
