Kurdish Dance Group and Singer Win Top Awards at International Festival in Georgia

On August 16 and 17, the Shlewa dance group participated in the International Festival of Song and Dance, competing alongside 39 groups from different countries.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A Kurdish dance group and singer have achieved remarkable success at the Batumi Black Sea Music and Art Festival in Georgia, proudly representing Kurdistan’s cultural heritage on the global stage.

On August 16 and 17, the Shlewa dance group participated at the Batumi Black Sea Music and Art Festival, competing alongside 39 groups from different countries. The group won the festival’s highest honors, receiving both the Diploma of Honor and the Grand Prix award.

“Our participation allowed us to showcase Kurdistan’s rich and ancient culture to the world while also serving as proud defenders of it,” said Rabar Kurdistani, a festival participant.

In addition to the group’s success, a Kurdish singer also secured first place in the competition. “I aim to continue achieving gold awards in sound and music, and this marks our second time participating in such a festival," Kurdistani added.

The event was judged by several internationally renowned artists, further highlighting the significance of the awards won by Kurdish representatives.

The Batumi Black Sea Music and Art Festival, founded in 2013 by Georgian pianist and UNESCO Artist for Peace Elisso Bolkvadze alongside producer Tamar Ghoghoberidze, the festival has since been organized by the Elisso Bolkvadze Charity Foundation "Lira" in collaboration with the "Pragma Art Group."
