Russian FM praised Kurdistan, President Barzani: Kurdistan24 Moscow

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – A Kurdistan24 correspondent in Moscow attended a special ceremony held at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On Jan. 17, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry held a special dinner ceremony for international reporters and press agencies.

Kurdistan24 correspondent Khoshawi Mohammed was also invited and attended the ceremony.

Mohammed, who is also head of the Kurdistan24 office in Moscow, attended the press conference following the dinner ceremony wearing his traditional Kurdish clothing.

The dinner ceremony was attended by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, and other Russian officials.

Mohammed revealed the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova introduced him to the Foreign Minister.

Lavrov expressed his happiness at Kurdistan24’s presence and work in Russia, Mohammed said.

Additionally, Mohammed said Lavrov had asked him about the situation in the Kurdistan Region and the Region’s president.

Regarding the situation in the Kurdistan Region, Mohammed said the nation had been victorious against terror threats and was secure.

Lavrov praised the role of the Kurdish people and President Masoud Barzani in the fight against terror, stating the President was a strong leader.

Moreover, Lavrov also expressed his willingness to sit for an exclusive interview with Kurdistan24 in the near future.

On Dec. 23, 2016, the Kurdistan24 correspondent in Moscow, dressed in Kurdish clothing, attended Russian President Vladimir Putin’s annual press conference.

Similar to the past, the session lasted for several hours.

“That young man is so beautifully dressed, it is impossible to pass him over,” Putin had said, referring to Mohammed’s traditional Kurdish garment.
