WASHINGTON DC, United States (Kurdistan24) – A New York Times best-selling author on Tuesday said the new United States administration recognizes the Peshmerga and Kurdish authorities.

In an interview with Kurdistan24, historian, journalist, and author Edwin Black spoke about the new US administration under President Donald Trump and the relationship with Kurdistan.

Black noted Trump’s presidency was a “pivotal” moment in the Middle East, particularly for the Kurds.

The human rights author explained the new US administration was ready to “recognize the Peshmerga and the Kurdish authorities and take a fresh new look at the entire region.”

“We can now move together on democratic principles, encouraging support [for] democratic nations such as the one developing in Kurdistan,” Black told Kurdistan24.

Black is a Jewish-American journalist and author whose notable works include IBM and the Holocaust, and The Transfer Agreement about the creation of the Modern Middle East.

The author received three human rights awards in 2011 for IBM and the Holocaust in which he explored the relationship between US-based company IBM and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
