A Kurdish opposition party to resume armed struggle against Iran
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – A Kurdish party in the Iranian Kurdistan (Rojhalat) announce restarting armed struggle against Iranian forces in the Kurdish areas, as the country prepares to vote in the presidential elections.
Society of Revolutionary Toilers of Iranian Kurdistan, known as Komala, has announced that the party has resumed armed struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran and has started deploying Peshmerga forces at the border with the Rojhalat.
Ibrahim Minasham, Komala’s Political Cadre and Peshmerga commander, speaking to Kurdistan24 said deploying our forces at border and into the Kurdish areas, and building our bases and barricades is a new policy in preparation for the party’s struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people and all Iran’s nations.
He also added that his party’s move aims to have constant communication with the people of Kurdistan in Rojhalat.
Many Kurdish men and women from Rojhalat have recently joined the armed force of Komala in efforts to resume the armed resistance against Iran, Komala official stated.
Kurdistan24 spoke with several Komala Peshmerga fighters at the border areas of Rojhalat [Iranian Kurdistan] and Kurdistan Region.
A female Peshmerga said “we sacrifice our lives for the freedom and objectives of the people of Kurdistan.”
“In order to end the suppression, oppression and injustice, I joined the Peshmerga forces to achieve the rights of people of Kurdistan,” a male Peshmerga fighter told Kurdistan24.
Komala is a Kurdistan Region-based Iranian opposition party founded by a group of students in Iranian Kurdistan in 1969.
In early 2016, another Kurdish opposition party, Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), announced they will resume armed resistance against Iran since then several clashes took place between the PDKI Peshmerga and Iranian forces in Rojhalat.
