Kurdistan Prime Minister nominates Kamal Atroushi as KRG Minister of Natural Resources

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has nominated Dr. Kamal Atroushi as the autonomous region’s Minister of Natural Resources, said Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) spokesperson, Jotiar Adil, in a statement on Sunday.

The KRG has sent Atroushi’s CV to the Kurdistan Region Parliament, Adil explained. The regional legislature would then convene to put his nomination for the post up for a vote.

The position for the Minister of Natural Resources has been vacant in the current cabinet of the KRG since its formation in mid-2019. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani himself has been the acting minister.

Ministry of Natural Resources is one of the key ministries as the Kurdish autonomous region heavily relies on revenue from natural resources.
