Kurdish short film viewed more than a million times in five days on YouTube
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A Kurdish short film by a group of young performers from Iraq's disputed province of Kirkuk has been viewed more than a million times on YouTube in just five days.
Kurdish teen actor Salman Vines made the video along with a number of fellow performers. The film is a 22-minutes action-comedy piece with Arabic subtitles about a Kurdish youth who travels to India for some time and then returns to Kurdistan.
The short film then borrows tropes such as unique action and dramatic editing from Bollywood cinema to continue the story back in Kurdistan to a comic effect.
Vines's YouTube channel has more than 808 subscribers, and the majority of his videos are comedies.
