ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Internal Committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) on Sunday announced it is imposing a complete curfew in the Hasakah region after four days of fighting between Kurdish-led forces and ISIS there.

“A seven day total curfew is being imposed by the Internal Affairs Body of the North and East Syria on the Hasaka Canton as a partial one imposed on all NES regions,” the body said, reported the local Hawar News Agency (ANHA).

“The curfew comes into effect as of 24 January 2022 and expires on 31 January 2022; all bakeries, flour mills, health centers, fuel facilities and municipalities remain on duty.”

Furthermore, a partial curfew in other parts of northeast Syria will begin daily from 6 pm until 6 am. Movement between cities is not allowed.

The AANES blamed Turkey for being the “mastermind of ISIS” and said that “it poses threats to regional and global security.”

While SDF forces were fighting ISIS, Turkish-backed forces attacked SDF-affiliated forces near Ain Issa for two days.

The Internal Affairs Body said it hopes that the people in northeast Syria “adhere to the measures taken to help forces carry out duty successfully and to preserve peace and stability prevailing in the North and East Syria.”

On Sunday, the General Command of the SDF said that around 200 ISIS fighters attacked the prison in Hasakah on Jan. 20.

“Over the past three days, our forces neutralized more than 160 terrorist attackers and nearly 15 terrorist detainees who clashed with our forces while trying to escape prison,” the SDF said.

“In total, more than 175 terrorists have been killed so far. On the other hand, 27 of our brave fighters have been heroically martyred.”

The SDF said that it “begun a large-scale sweep operation, with the participation of about 10,000 fighters of SDF and Internal Security Forces.”

In another statement, it underlined that the prison is not under control yet and that there are ISIS fighters holed up in the northern part of the prison. It also said its forces have the facility surrounded.
