PM Barzani sends condolences to friends and family of deceased Iraqi legal scholar

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani sent his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Iraqi legal expert Tariq Harib on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we received the news that the well-known Iraqi figure and legal expert Tariq Harib has passed,” Barzani said in a statement, noting that Harib was a distinguished legal expert and defender of human rights. 

“I pass my sincere condolences to his respected family, friends, and loved ones,” Barzani added. “I pray to God Almighty to admit him to heaven and give us all patience for his loss.”

Tariq Harib, a well-known Iraqi legal expert, died in Baghdad early Wednesday, his family announced. He was 77 years old.

Having obtained a law degree from Mustansiriyah University in 1975, Harib soon became a well-known figure in the Iraqi legal world. He also worked as a journalist. 

Throughout his life, he authored more than 20 books and gave numerous lectures to many universities and colleges in Iraq on legal subjects. He often appeared on Iraqi television to commentate on legal issues.
