ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Interfaith Harmony Week, a Kurdistan 24-sponsored event highlighting peaceful coexistence between different religious communities in the Kurdistan Region, kicked off in Sulaimani city on Saturday.

The Dialogue and Culture Organization is organizing the event in coordination with the "American Corner" with the Kurdistan 24 Research and Survey Center as the sponsor.

The Director of the Dialogue and Culture Organization, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, told Kurdistan 24 that representatives of seven faiths will attend this year's Harmony Week.

Abdulaziz also stated the week-long event will call attention to "the beautiful dialogue" among different religious communities in Kurdistan, especially in Sulaimani, where people of eight faiths live in peace. He added that attendees seek to contribute to tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the region.

In 2010, the United Nations designated the first week of February of each year as World Interfaith Harmony Week to promote harmony among all peoples regardless of their religion.
