ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is set to attend the Arab League’s charter of human rights session beginning on Feb. 14.

A delegation from the KRG and Iraqi federal government will attend the session in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Feb. 14-15, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Region’s Office of the Coordinator for International Advocacy.

The Kurdish government will discuss its adherence to the principles of human rights and developments it had made in the area, the statement said.

The two governments will also respond to the recommendations proposed by the League, the Office said.

The Kurdistan Region’s Plan for Human Rights, prepared in cooperation with United Nations agencies, is a new mechanism for observing human rights and respecting the recommendations made by the UN.

The Arab Charter of Human Rights was ratified by major Gulf countries in 2004, enshrining basic human rights principles.
